My Story
From an early age, I’ve lived a life that is full change. At the age of 7, my father moved our family to Europe where we lived for 5 years (England and Spain). After graduating college in the mid 1990’s, I chose to move to Costa Rica to explore working with private land owners to design and implement innovative solutions and financial mechanisms for rainforest conservation (e.g. Ecotourism, Agroforestry, Carbon Offsetting).
My love for bringing environmental and social considerations into business - what is now called Corporate Sustainability - began years later when I worked for a large U.S. bank and initiated their first senior leadership Green Team. Together, we created the nation’s first green checking account and began what would become their first organized sustainability team and strategy. Working with employees at all levels of the organization, as well as having the luxury of working cross-functionally (“out and down”) with leaders and their teams, I learned that a key to success would be to inspire and influence a culture of sustainability where employees and customers alike could partner in generating positive impact in their communities.
I brought my growing expertise in sustainability strategy, program design and implementation, and stakeholder engagement to another U.S. bank (part of a global bank) where they hired me to create a 3-year strategy and develop what would become a flourishing and award winning employee engagement program.
